Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

Under the influence of the anticyclone aloft, it is generally fine over southeastern China.

At noon, the tropical depression over the Philippines was centred about 40 kilometres south-southwest of Manila. It is forecast to move west or west-northwest at about 18 kilometres per hour across Luzon, entering the South China Sea and intensifying. Meanwhile, Typhoon Talim was centred about 920 kilometres east-southeast of Taibei. It is forecast to intensify gradually and move northwest or west-northwest at about 25 kilometres per hour in the generally direction of the vicinity of Zhejiang.

Weather forecast for this afternoon and tonight

Mainly fine and hazy apart from isolated showers. Very hot in the afternoon. Becoming cloudy tonight. Light winds.

Outlook : Very hot with sunny periods in the next couple of days. There will be squally showers in the latter part of this week.

Weather information for south China coastal waters issued by the Hong Kong Observatory at 12:30 p.m. on 12 September 2017

Warnings:
Strong winds in Nan'ao, Shanwei, south of Hong Kong and Shangchuan Dao.

Weather Situation:
At noon, the tropical depression over the Philippines with maximum sustained winds of about 45 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 14.2 degrees north, 120.8 degrees east. It is forecast to move west or west-northwest at about 18 kilometres per hour across Luzon, entering the South China Sea and intensifying. Meanwhile, Typhoon Talim with maximum sustained winds of about 120 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 21.8 degrees north, 129.8 degrees east. It is forecast to intensify gradually and move northwest or west-northwest at about 25 kilometres per hour in the generally direction of the vicinity of Zhejiang.

     EAST. IT IS FORECAST TO MOVE WEST OR

Tropical Cyclone Warning

At 120300 UTC, Tropical Depression over the Philippines with central pressure 1000 hectopascals was centred within 90 nautical miles of one four point two degrees north (14.2 N) one two one point zero degrees east (121.0 E) and is forecast to move west or west-northwest at about 10 knots for the next 24 hours.

Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 25 knots.

Radius of over 2 metre waves 180 nautical miles.

They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.

Note
  1. From readings taken at various locations in Hong Kong during the period 1987-2016, the background ambient gamma radiation levels may vary between 0.06 and 0.30 microsievert per hour.
  2. The extent of health effects to a person as a result of exposure to radiation is expressed by a physical quantity called equivalent dose, in unit of sievert. Protective action may be required if there is an increase in the ambient gamma dose rate above background such that the total additional dose is expected to exceed 5000 microsieverts in a relatively short period of time. For example, a dose of 5000 microsieverts may be reached when the ambient gamma dose rate is 1000 microsieverts per hour (several thousand times above background) and lasts for 5 hours.
  3. The readings of ambient gamma radiation level from instrument are expressed in unit of gray, which is numerically equal to the gamma dose expressed in sievert.
